Camps

Overview

We offer specialised “On the Go Adventures” camps for those with additional support requirements. 

Our fun, exciting and unique camps:

  • provide participants with a sense of adventure and achievement
  • support participants to achieve personal goals in an enjoyable and safe environment
  • foster social participation and independence. 

The person-centred activities focus on independent living skills, social skills and community access.​ Participants can try activities such as: 

  • flying fox
  • giant swing
  • archery
  • canoeing
  • swimming
  • orienteering
  • shopping
  • cooking
  • visiting local attractions.

We run monthly 2-night camps for all ages and 1-night camps specifically for ages 8 to 13 (‘tweenagers’).

Program Goals

Our goals are for participants to:

  • attempt, or participate in, all group recreational activities including some that are unfamiliar
  • develop and maintain relationships within a group setting and socialise with members of the community
  • engage in social interactions and general conversations
  • gain independence in basic independent living skills
  • gain independence in basic self-care and hygiene
  • take part in unfamiliar activities with encouragement and reassurance
  • value and respect peers and accept others’ opinions.
