Overview
Our 1:1 Community Support aims to improve the confidence and self-esteem of a person with a disability in the community. We work with individuals to help them:
- understand and learn about independence, safety awareness and general life skills
- feel empowered and valued in the community.
Service Goals
The service helps participants to achieve the following goals:
- Acknowledging when goods and services need to be paid for and understanding the correct use of money.
- Attempting or participating in group recreational activities that may be unfamiliar.
- Developing and maintaining relationships and socialising with peers and community members.
- Connecting with, and accessing, the local community.
- Engaging in volunteer work or education.
- Taking part in an exercise of choice to enhance health and well-being.
- Having the opportunity and be supported to attend allied health supports and services.
- Developing the knowledge and skills to use public transport independently.
- Valuing and respecting peers and accepting others’ opinions.
We are also happy to work with participants to set, develop and achieve their own goals.
