Y Whittlesea, a leading youth organisation dedicated to the holistic development of young people, are proud to announce that we are in the final stages of obtaining a school registration for an independent Community School. A new initiative for the Y in Victoria, the school is tailored for young people disengaged from traditional school models, from years 10 – 12, aged 15 years and over within Whittlesea. With a commitment to providing innovative educational opportunities, Y Whittlesea aims to transform lives and empower the next generation through education, support, and wellbeing.
The Y is thrilled to extend its proven approach to learning beyond Queensland and Western Australia, as it opens a new school in Victoria. Having witnessed the success of independent schools under the Y banner in Queensland and Western Australia, this expansion marks an exciting opportunity to bring their innovative educational model to students across the country.
Located in the heart of Epping, the Community School is set to revolutionise the approach to education for young individuals who have struggled within traditional academic settings. Focused on fostering a supportive environment and tailored curriculum, the school endeavours to reignite a passion for learning among disengaged youth and equip them with the skills necessary for success in both learning and life.
“At Y Whittlesea, we believe that every young person deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential,” says Michele Rowse, CEO of Y Whittlesea. “The opening of our new school in Epping signifies our unwavering dedication to the needs of young people and empowering them to overcome obstacles and achieve their best.”
The curriculum at the new school is designed to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of each student. With personalised learning plans, the school aims to reignite students’ curiosity and passion for learning. From practical, hands-on experiences to immersive project-based learning, every aspect of the curriculum is geared towards fostering personal growth and lifelong skills.
Furthermore, the school based out of Y Leisure City has access to a fantastic variety of recreational spaces, collaborative learning environments, and specialised resources to support students with diverse learning needs. A team of dedicated educators, youth workers and support staff are on hand to provide guidance, mentorship, and individualised support to ensure that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
By nurturing talents, building confidence, and instilling values of responsibility and resilience, the school aims to prepare students not only for academic success but also for active participation in their communities and the workforce.
As Y Whittlesea embarks on this transformative journey to empower youth, we remain committed to our mission of providing every young person with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future with and for young people.
